Yoga Sutra (Philosophy)

Ashtanga Yoga Sutra

Yoga Sutras is an ancient guidebook that shows us the path of yoga and gives us the practices that take us all the way to the state of joy, peace, happiness, and contentment. Within the 195 sutras , the middle of the book, are 31 sutras describeed as the "eight-limb of yoga". These sutra covers dharmic virtues (yama and niyama), outer practices (asana, pranayama, and pratyahara), and the inner practices of dhanrana, dhyana, and samadhi. The progression of inward turning from the common experience of ego drama to the rare and sublime state of silent steady wisdom, is synthesized in the balanced practice of the eight limbs of Yoga.
